SOBS Advances Product Certification Process for Local Manufacturing Industries The Somali Bureau of Standards (SOBS) is conducting comprehensive assessments and evaluations of local manufacturing facilities as they progress through the final stage of the Product Certification Programme and the process of obtaining the National Quality Mark. In collaboration with Hope Labs Group, SOBS has implemented the Product Quality Assurance Programme to verify the safety and quality of locally manufactured products, strengthen consumer confidence, and support Somali industries in meeting the requirements of domestic and international markets. The assessment process includes reviewing manufacturing practices, evaluating product quality compliance, and verifying conformity with applicable Somali national standards and internationally recognised quality requirements. SOBS will soon announce the manufacturing companies that have successfully met the requirements for obtaining the National Quality Mark. Eligible companies will be awarded Product Certification Certificates and the National Quality Mark, serving as official recognition that their products comply with established quality and safety standards. The certification process represents an important step towards strengthening Somalia’s industrial sector, promoting quality-driven production, and improving the competitiveness of Somali products. At the same time, SOBS will take appropriate measures against manufacturing facilities producing products that do not comply with applicable quality standards, in order to protect consumer safety, public health, and the interests of Somali citizens.
