SOBS Director General Participates in Somalia–China Trade Cooperation Conference to Promote Quality and Investment Opportunities

Mogadishu, Somalia — 25 August 2026 – The Director General of the Somali Bureau of Standards (SOBS), Madam Hawo Ahmed Hassan, participated in the Somalia–China Trade Cooperation Conference held in Mogadishu. The conference, held under the theme “Building Cooperation and Creating Opportunities,” focused on strengthening economic and trade relations between Somalia and China through the creation of new investment opportunities and sustainable business partnerships. During the event, discussions highlighted the importance of improving the business environment, promoting investment, and enhancing cooperation between the two countries across various economic sectors. The Somali Bureau of Standards (SOBS) will continue to play an important role in facilitating trade and investment by ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of products and services entering and produced within Somalia. Through the implementation of quality standards, conformity assessment systems, and consumer protection measures, SOBS contributes to building confidence among businesses, investors, and consumers, while supporting increased trade, investment growth, and sustainable economic development in Somalia.
