SoBS Launches First Phase of Quality Mark Licensing

A meeting held at the headquarters of the Somali Bureau of Standards (SoBS) marked the launch of the first phase of the Quality Mark Licensing Programme, with certificates and Quality Mark Use Licences presented to local manufacturing industries that successfully completed the required quality assessment and product inspection processes. The meeting served as a preparatory step toward the forthcoming National Quality Mark Launch Ceremony and was attended by senior SoBS officials, led by Director General Mrs. Hawo Ahmed Hassan, Director of Certification Abdulqadir Ibrahim Sheikh Noor, other directors, advisers, staff members, and representatives of local manufacturing industries. The Quality Mark (QM) forms part of SoBS's broader Product Certification framework, which includes four official certification marks: the Quality Mark (QM) for locally produced products, the Import Standardization Mark (ISM) for imported goods, the Halal Mark (HM) for products meeting applicable Halal requirements, and the Platinum Mark (PM) for premium products meeting enhanced quality and compliance requirements. During the ceremony, certificates and Quality Mark Use Licences were awarded to industries that successfully completed the assessment and inspection process. The certification and licence confirm that the assessed products met the applicable quality requirements and have been authorized to carry the SoBS Quality Mark, providing assurance of product quality and safety to consumers. The Quality Mark Licensing Programme is an important step toward strengthening confidence between producers and consumers, supporting compliance with national quality requirements, and encouraging the growth of domestic production and manufacturing in Somalia.
