SoBS Participates in Technical Committee Meeting on Laboratory Design and Development in the Netherlands

On 25 September 2026, a delegation from the Somali Bureau of Standards (SoBS), led by the Director of Standards Development and Trade, Mr. Abdikadir Abdisalam, accompanied by laboratory experts, successfully concluded a three-day technical committee meeting on laboratory design and development held in Delft, the Netherlands. During the meeting, SoBS presented its perspectives on laboratory design, capacity development, and the need to align laboratory capabilities with Somalia’s productive sectors and national economic priorities. SoBS also emphasized the importance of cooperation, harmonization, and stronger coordination among laboratories in order to enhance testing services, strengthen quality infrastructure, and improve the overall effectiveness of the national quality system. The discussions further highlighted the important role of modern and well-coordinated laboratory services in supporting domestic production, ensuring the quality and reliability of products, and facilitating trade in Somalia. The participation forms part of SoBS’s continued efforts to strengthen Somalia’s national quality infrastructure and develop laboratory services that respond effectively to the country’s economic, industrial, and trade priorities.
