SOBS Strengthens Quality and Product Safety Through Official Visit to Coca-Cola UBC

Mogadishu, 26 September 2026 — The Somali Bureau of Standards (SOBS) is continuing to strengthen efforts aimed at improving the quality and safety of products manufactured in Somalia. As part of these efforts, SOBS conducted an official working visit to Coca-Cola UBC to assess the company’s operations and its compliance with applicable quality standards. The visit was attended by the Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Jamaal Mohamed Hassan, the Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industry, the Director General of the Somali Bureau of Standards, Ms. Hawo Ahmed Hassan, together with Directors of SOBS departments. The delegation was warmly received by the company’s management. During the visit, the delegation toured various facilities and operational sections of the company, with particular attention given to the production process and quality assurance systems. The visit forms part of SOBS’ ongoing efforts to strengthen the Quality Mark (QM) Certification Scheme, which plays an important role in verifying the quality and safety of products and supporting local manufacturers in complying with national and international quality standards. The Somali Bureau of Standards will continue working closely with companies and industries across the country to improve the quality, safety, and public confidence in products manufactured in Somalia.
