Mogadishu, Somalia | 14 October 2026
The Somali Bureau of Standards (SoBS) proudly joins national, regional, and international standards organizations in commemorating World Standards Day 2026, an occasion dedicated to recognizing the vital contribution of international standards to quality, safety, innovation, and sustainable development.
Observed annually on 14 October, World Standards Day highlights the importance of standardization in facilitating international trade, strengthening consumer confidence, supporting industrial development, and promoting the safety and reliability of products and services.
As Somalia's national standards authority, SoBS remains committed to developing and promoting Somali Standards, strengthening conformity assessment and certification services, and enhancing the country's national quality infrastructure in alignment with internationally recognized practices.
Since its establishment in 2020 under the Standards and Quality Control Act No. 27 of 2020, SoBS has continued to advance national standardization efforts, strengthen regulatory compliance, support businesses and industries, and promote a culture of quality across the Somali economy.
Through continued cooperation with international and regional standardization organizations, including the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the African Organisation for Standardisation (ARSO), and other development partners, SoBS is working to enhance Somalia's participation in regional and global quality and trade systems.
On this important occasion, the Somali Bureau of Standards extends its appreciation to its employees, technical experts, government institutions, private sector stakeholders, development partners, and all those contributing to the advancement of quality and standardization in Somalia.
World Standards Day serves as a reminder that standards are essential instruments for protecting consumers, strengthening industrial competitiveness, facilitating trade, and building public confidence in products and services.
